Learning unit contents

The course of this year will have for object " The Belgian literature today ". It will envisage the Belgian French-speaking literary production of last two years, and in particular the narrative prose. The objective of the course, which will take the shape of a seminar requiring the participation of the students, is to forge tools and methods to analyse a contemporary literary production. What means to be a " Belgian author " today? Can we track down in the contemporary Belgian production recurring thematic configurations, or striking stylistics or aesthetics? Does this production present an identical dimension?

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of this course, the student will be able to :

  • Build the literary and editorial trajectory of an author;
  • Characterize a work of a point of thematic and esthetic view(sight);
  • Determine the Belgian inscription of a text.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Have followed the course of Histoire approfondie des littératures francophones et spécialement de la littérature belge (Bac 3 Romane).

The course will be given as a seminar.

Assessment methods and criteria

The course giving itself under the shape of a seminar, the students will be evaluated on their oral presentations. They will also have to put back a written final work in the form of critical essay.
