Learning unit contents
This course contains two parts :
(1) the first is dedicated to the fondations of lexicology (part of the linguistics which study the "words");
(2) the second is dedicated to the bases of lexicography (practical activity which describe "words" in dictionnaries).
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end, the student will show that he uses with precision the basis notions of lexicology and that he can define them. He will also show that he can understand and analyse the structure of a dictionnary.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Anterior linguistics classes provide useful notions for this master course.

There is no practical work, but reading will be suggested, as well as issues aiming for an active reflection.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination in january. Time to prepare the answers.
At the request of the students, the classical interrogation can be replaced / completed by a personal work (on one of the readings proposed).
