Introduction to spanish-american short fiction.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The latin-american short story. The student should be able to situate the short story as a genre in latin-american literature. He can explain f.e. the following literary concepts: the theory of literature by Borges, the fantastic, magical realism, etc. He will also be capable to situate some important latin-american writers such as Borges, Fuentes, Cortázar, Vargas Llosa, García Márquez and Monterroso.

Ex cathedra with active participation by the students.

Some help will be offered so as make the students capable of writing a paper in spanish.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written and oral exam in January. Personal paper (30% of the global result).
