Spanish linguistics II
This course includes a semantic (1st unit), pragmatic (2nd unit) and sociolinguistic (3rd unit) study of Spanish. Complementarily, towards the end of the quadrimester, Spanish is approached from a geopolitical point of view, in the current context of globalization (4th unit). Each unit will include practice sessions in written and oral language.

The objectives of this course are:
to understand the semantic relations in Spanish on the lexical level;
to use the key concepts of pragmatics to better understand the use of Spanish;
identify and describe different registers of the language;
identify and describe the phonological, morphosyntactic and lexical features of the most extensive dialectal varieties of Spanish;
to use the key concepts of sociolinguistics to describe the peculiarities of Spanish in contact with other languages;
to critically analyze "pan-hispanic" ideology.

Spanish linguistics II
In order for students to achieve the objectives of the course, various learning activities are planned: reading and discussing theoretical and historical texts related to the subjects covered; listening or viewing audio or audiovisual material; analysis of literary texts in Spanish; oral presentations on previously agreed themes. Exercises to identify different dialectal varieties and Spanish registers, as well as semantic and pragmatic analysis of authentic interactions are also planned.

Assessment methods and criteria

Spanish linguistics II
In addition to the on-going assessment of the student in the classroom (exercises, text analysis, short texts writing, oral presentations), a three-hour written examination will take place at the end of the semester. It includes exercises and theoretical questions to be developed. The evaluation criteria for the written examination are: (i) conceptual clarity; (ii) clarity of drafting; (iii) good use of Spanish. The weight of the each evaluation instance on the final mark is as follows: 25% for activities proposed in the classroom; 75% for the written examination scheduled for the end of the semester.

In addition to the two weekly hours of classes, there will be schedules for individual tutoring. Hours of service: Friday, from 16:00 to 18:00.
