Learning unit contents
This course has two main objectives: on a theoretical level, it aims at analysing some syntactic constructions that are particularly problematic for French-speaking learners of Dutch; on a practical level, its aim is to further develop the communication skills (both receptive and productive skills) of the students in Dutch.
In the theoretical part, we will tackle some syntactic constructions that are particularly problematic for French-speaking learners of Dutch, including er, pronominal adverbs and passive constructions..
In the practical part, we will train the communicative skills of the students by organizing the following activities:
- reading and listening comprehension exercises;
- vocabulary tests;
- essay-writing;
- transcription of a TV-report;
- the collection of a newspaper file
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
At the end of this course, the students will be able:
- to describe general principe of Dutch syntax;
- to describe and explain how word the syntactic constructions we discussed work in Dutch;
- to analyze these constructions in an original article;
- to write a coherent essay on a general topic (B2 level)
- to understand specialized texts (B2+ level)
- to follow a natural conversation in Dutch (B2 level)

Having earned the ECTS credits for the following courses:
- Dutch Language I ( LGER0009-1 )

The course includes formal lectures which will be as interactive as possible on the one hand and practical sessions on the other.

Alternation of theoretical (1h/week) and practical sessions (1h/week).

Assessment methods and criteria
The evaluation will include a written and an oral exam. In addition to the exams, two evaluation sessoins will be organized during the semester. The written exam will include:
- questions tackling the theoretical part;
- questions focusing on the application of the theoretical concepts to concrete cases;
- a writing task (essay writing);
- the linguistic analysis of the newspaper file;
- the vocabulary of the newspaper file;
- the content of the neswpaper file (discussion);
- the vocabulary form the tanscription task
- the content of the transcription task (discussion).

- lexical knowledge (10%). examinations during the semester, newspaper file, transcription and any other material treated in class
- speaking skills (30%). oral exam
- writing skills (30%). written exam
