Learning unit contents
During this course a handbook based on a communicative approach will be used. In addition to this, students will learn how to understand articles and audio or tv documents. Grammatical structures will be introduced progressively. By the end of the course, students should be able to use the vocabulary of the handbook, as well as other vocabulary seen in class. They should also be able to use basic grammatical structures efficiently. Exercises concentrate on pronunciation, the acquisition of vocabulary and basic grammatical structures.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam: 20 marks
The exam will focus on the lessons covered in "Berliner Platz" and in the grammar book. Students' command of the topics, the vocabulary and the language structures covered in class, as well as their writing skills will be tested.
