Teaching in the second semester

Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

The lecture includes all aspects related to natural risks : hazards, vulnerability, disaster response, risk mitigation...
applied to earthquakes, mass movements, volcanic and hydro-meteorologic hazards,.. with focus on hazard couplingmechanisms.
Both scientific and socio-economic aspects are considered.
For students in engineering sciences, complementary geomorphic aspects are added to the basic lecture in geological risk assessment.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The goal is to understand the coupling between hazards as well as the link between hazard and risk.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Good knowledge of English.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Development and computation of (earthquake) risk scenarios

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

10 lectures of 3h,
5 sessions of 3h of exercices (scenarios, field data processing) and seminars preparation of project.
