Learning unit contents

This course covers some of the main contemporary economic questions through a comparative study of the current economic regimes. After pinpointing the variety of the possible economic regimes, the main contemporary regimes will be analysed, in particular the main variants of capitalism, with its specific mentalities, institutions and techniques. The evolution of the main variants of capitalism is studied through economic integration and the control and behaviour of enterprises; through the various economic functions of the state; and through the place and role of the third sector (social economy). The evolution and rapid transformation of the socialist regimes of the former USSR and Central and Eastern European countries make up the last part of the course. Transformations and the fast evolution of China's economic regime is also analysed.
