III. Endocrine system and metabolism
The course concerns human biochemistry and physiology, partim endocrine system and metabolism. In particular, it encompasses the following chapters:
1. Introduction
2. Mechanisms of action of hormones
3. The hormones of the energetic metabolism
   Energetic metabolism
   Insulin and diabetes
   Glucagon
   Epinephrine
   Glucocorticoids
   Thyroid hormones
4. Gastro-intestinal hormones
5. Water, electrolytes, and mineral elements
6. Growth
7. Reproduction
8. Cytokines
9. Mediators
 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The objective of the course is to master the principles of biochemistry and physiology of the human digestive, urinary and endocrine systems. Furthermore, the student will have understood the importance of feedbacks and interactions between the systems.

 Written evaluations will take place in june and in august/september. Evaluations will be organized the same day for all parts of this teaching unit.
