Learning unit contents
Exploration of the world of construction materials will be developed over the whole academic year.
In the first term, the course enables students to discover the possible use of various architectural materials through the use of photographic reportage. Classification of materials on the basis of substance rather than function enables students to become aware of the impact of their choices on the environment.
In the second term, the course will address the performance of materials and the procedures involved in their production and processing. This knowledge will be indispensable in terms of choosing materials and designing constructive systems.
One session will be devoted to practical work to learn about how to apply knowledge acquired during theory classes and to highlight the close connections existing between different parts of the materials course.
