Study Programmes 2016-2017
PEDA4044-2
Evaluation of learning outcomes, Part 2
Duration :
20h Th, 20h Pr
Number of credits :
Master in education (120 ECTS)3
Lecturer :
Marianne Poumay
Language(s) of instruction :
French language
Organisation and examination :
Teaching in the first semester, review in January
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite :
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents :
How do we know what our trainees have learned ? The world of professional training also more and more cares for the assessment of learning outcomes. Highlighting these achievements notably allows to valorize the trainees, in order to boost their self-esteem but also to facilitate their professional reintegration.
This year's course will take place in the ProFA (Professionnalisation des Formateurs du milieu Associatif) environment/project. In close collaboration with the researchers and trainers of this training project, the students will take part in the design and development of integrated evaluation tasks as well as their testing.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit :
This course will mainly target the development of the second competence of the competence grid for the ULG Master in educational sciences, competence dealing with the design, running and evaluation of training programs. Il will more specifically work on the mastery of the 2.7 learning outcome from that competence grid. The 2.7 LO is the following : "develop evaluation tasks (...) fitting the context and the evaluation framework, respecting scientific criteria; analyse results in a critical way".
LOs 2.2, 2.3, 2.5, 2.6, 3.6, 4.2 and 4.3 will also be tackled, as well as the fifth competence ("adopt the ethical and responsible posture of a graduate professional").
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
Models and analysis frameworks proposed in the "Partim 1" of this same course.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
The students will work in small groups.
They will discover the ProFA project, then develop an integrative evaluation task (framed as a concrete case) aiming at evaluating the way trainees (who are themselves trainers), using ICT efficiently, are able to:
  • (1) Design and facilitate activities aiming at deep learning
  • (2) Develop trainees' selfregulation (SRL)
  • (3) Install a motivating and supporting classroom  climate
  • (4) Support collaboration and human relationship
The cases (evaluation tasks) developed will really be used in the ProFA project. Students will test their activity with a trainer close to the target public of the ProFA project, and gather data allowing for a self-evaluation of their design/development work.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
Face-to-face seminars as well as group work.
Recommended or required readings :
ProFA online modules, comprising resources, will be accessible to the students during this course.
Assessment methods and criteria :
Participation in the training activities (choice and development of a case, group presentations) is mandatory in order to access evaluation for this course.
Through a written report comprising important annexes (with the developed tasks as well as tracks from their use or different kind of interactions), the students will be asked to demonstrate their development of the second competence from the ULG Master in educational sciences (aiming at design, running and evaluation of training programs).
They will therefore mobilize their mastery of learning outcome ref. 2.7., but combined with others, and notably LOs 2.2, 2.3., 2.5 and 2.6.
A specific seminar will help them build up that report.
Work placement(s) :
None
Organizational remarks :
Face-to-face seminars will be located in the T1 building, Quai Timmermans, 14 (Sclessin).
