Learning unit contents :

The course introduces the specificities of qualitative approaches through successive steps in a scientific research (data collection, analysis and interpretation) and provides an overview of selected analytical techniques: discourse analysis, content analysis and grounded theory method (GTM).

Learning outcomes of the learning unit :

The student will be able to:

given a research question, decide whether a qualitative or a quantitative approach is relevant,
accurately define qualitative terms,
differentiate content analysis and discourse analysis from grounded theory method (GTM).

Theorical sessions are ex cathedra teaching, using slides.

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :

Face to face for theoretical lessons and practical work.
