Presentation
The development of chronic diseases means that healthcare professionals have to seek the patient¿s active participation to manage the disease. Many difficulties arise during the long-term care of these patients: lack of observance, lack of motivation, etc. Faced with this complex situation, professionals must evolve towards the role of healthcare provider and educator. The idea is that education can help with the care process. However, this new educational requirement can¿t be improvised and it is necessary to develop a rigorous methodology to achieve a high quality, integrated educational practice, which is what the University Certificate in the Practice of Patient Education aims to do.
Special conditions of access / students concerned
Applicants for the training programme must meet the following requirements:
- work in the healthcare sector with chronically ill patients
- have a degree or a diploma from a college of higher education or a baccalaureate, providing proof of a minimum of three years experience (an application file must be submitted to the course supervisor ¿ system of validation of professional experience)

Applicants who don¿t have any of the abovementioned qualifications can access the training programme on the basis of the validation of at least five years professional experience, assessed on the basis of an application file submitted to the course supervisor.
