Course contents :
This lecture is focussed on the analysis of teaching processes, describe them and study their impact on pupils. The main chapters are the following: - What is teaching? - Trends in paradigms of research on teaching - Current models of teaching quality - Analysis of verbal & non verbal interactions between teachers & pupils. - Variability according to the class context. - Impact of expectancies and teachers' judgments - Results of process-product studies
Learning outcomes of the course :
- Know the main concepts and theoretical models related to the analysis of teaching processes - Know the prominent empirical researches from different paradigms, their methodology, results and limits. - Develop skills in observation of classrooms practices, using well-structured grids.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
None
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
30 hours of practical exercices focused on classroom observation and analysis of data gathered through these observations.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
The lecture comprises 5 sessions of 3 hours each.
Recommended or required readings :
A folder with several papers and slides are provided on the ecampus platform.
Assessment methods and criteria :
Written examination, one part with documentation available, one part without.
Multiple choice, short and constructed open ended questions.
