Course contents :
This course, in Spanish, studies a serires of important Spanish American cultural topics, from Conquest till the contemporary times. Special attention is given to the last decades.
Learning outcomes of the course :
The student should know the themes studied in the course and situate the important issues in the epistemology of the Spanish-American cultures.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
Good comprehension (both oral and written) of the Spanish language.

In the Copy shop Flash-Copy from February 2016. The student should read the following books in an autonomous way and be capable of comment them in function of the issues studied in the course. Héctor Abad Faciolince, El olvido que seremos. Horacio Castellanos Moya, Insensatez.  Ariel Dorman, La muerte y la doncella. Leonardo Padura, Pasado perfecto. Les étudiants en traduction HEL-ULg ne doivent pas faire ces lectures.         Students in translation HEL Ulg should not read this books. LLM students should only read the books by Abad Faciolince and Padura.
Assessment methods and criteria :
Written exam in May/June on the course and the readings.
