Course contents :

| This course will provide an introduction to critical discourse analysis, a discipline devoted to the linguistic examination of non-literary texts. After a methodological introduction, the course will consist in a series of thematic sections (involving both theory and practice) designed to offer an overview of some of the concepts commonly used in the field. Among the topics studied will be those of register, presupposition and implicature, as well as metaphor. | ||

Learning outcomes of the course :

| Upon completion of the course, students will master the theoretical models discussed in class, and they will have acquired the methodological skills needed to develop original analyses of non-literary texts. | ||
