Course contents :
First goal of formation is the student's autonomy decision in research, evaluation and using resources.
Acquire these skills (knowledge and know-how) will be useful during all university cursus and also professional career.
During formation, the student will learn to research and to select the scientific and relevance information. The student will use best available resources on library and internet with critically.
  • Differents notions will be covered in formation:
  • Sources of scientific information;
  • Specialized tools in information research in socials and political sciences;
  • Information research approach;
  • Plagiarism;
  • The open access;
  • References management (ZOTERO).
Learning outcomes of the course :
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
-          to identify main information sources (database, catalog, etc.) and documentary tools essentials for research in political and social sciences.
-          To achieve research equations and to use a thesaurus for increase the relevance in documentary research.
-          To research and to select adequate and relevance resources
-          To practice critically during documentary research (ex: this source it matches my expectations?)
Otherwise, students will be sensitized the issues of plagiarism, scientific edition and open access movement.
Finally, student will be receive formation on references management software - ZOTERO.

1h - oral intervention in course of Pr. Ch. Lejeune [METO0825].
2x 2h - practical work/tutorial at L. Graulich library. (Registration required via the online form Doodle sent by Nathalie Pulgar). Attention! For consistency, be sure to follow the TP1 before the TP2.
1h - presentation and grip software ZOTERO (presentation; contents; utility; installation; basic use; etc.).

Assessment methods and criteria :
Students will be evaluated base on quality and relevance of their documentary work. This work will be realized in final report in course of Pr. Ch. Lejeune [METO0825].
