Contenus du cours :

||
| This course will explore violence in Jamaican literature. We will examine the ways that authors depict violence in order to interrogate power structures relating to race, gender, sexuality, class, and religion. This will also involve considering the legacy of slavery and colonialism. | ||

| The students will comprehend the historical legacy of violence in Jamaica. They will also expand their definition of what constitutes violence and gain an understanding of the roots of violence and the possible ways to heal it. Through an appraisal of relevant theory, students will develop the necessary skills to critically analyse the texts on this course. | ||
