Course contents :
 |
| The objective of this course is the acquisition of the elementary concepts and principles of a qualitative research approach in political science. Special attention is paid to that which, according to various authors, differentiates a scientific approach from all other ways of understanding the world, as well as to that which characterises more specifically the qualitative methods of research. The course will also tackle the main dimensions and steps of qualitative research (concept of a qualitative sampling, methods applied for data collection and analysis), and the mainsprings of critical analysis of information. |
 |
Learning outcomes of the course :
 |
| By the end of the course, the students are expected to be able to:
- define and describe the terms and concepts deployed in the different parts of the course;
- reproduce the notions and the link between epistemological reasoning raised in the course;
- define and describe the research methods in political science, but also identify these in the context of field research;
- evaluate their relevance, contribution and limits in light of a given issue and situation;
- distance themselves critically and analytically from the information collected.
