Course contents :
 |
| The application of knowledge gained from the Masters 1 course "Consecutive Interpretation from English into French". Acquisition of vocabulary and terminology specific to subjects of general interest and related to current affairs (English-French). Practical exercises based on speeches prepared and delivered by the teacher or the students as well as on recorded real-life speeches or debates on different subjects of general interest, but also specialist subjects or news with at an advanced level of difficulty. Training and public speaking exercises. |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| At the end of the course, students will be able to understand a speech in English on a subject of general or specialised interest or related to current affairs, to deliver consecutive interpretation of a professional standard in a natural and high register French, avoiding literal transposition. |

Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
 |
| Excellent listening comprehension of English and its different variations (British, American, and others). Very good command of French and the language required for conferences and international meetings. |

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
 |
| Students are required to regularly follow subjects of general interest and current affairs through the different media (TV, Internet, press in French and Spanish), as well as study the vocabulary and terminology of different fields at home. Classes of practical exercises, followed by comments on the individual performance of the students. |

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :

| Face-to- Face. 2 hours per week all year. Compulsory course given in the interpreting room at Rue de Pitteurs 20. |

Assessment methods and criteria :
 |
| The grade will be determined by the result of the final exam. This exam will take place before an
examining panel chaired by the module leader and composed of ULg/HEL interpreter-trainers, as well as external professional interpreters. The module leader will have the final say in case of divergence of opinions between the members of the panel. |
