Learning outcomes of the course :
 |
| · Before translating: adopting a thoughtful approach (careful reading of the document, determining the language register, being conscious of the target audience, understanding the general idea and not just the words, being aware of the targeted documentation, identifying difficulties, planning your time).
· During the translation process: paying special attention to the French language since the texts are intended for a French audience, avoiding mistranslations and shifts of meaning, writing in impeccable French, having faultless spelling and syntax.
· After the translation phase: importance of carrying out at least 3 proof readings in order to refine the translation and to deliver a meticulous and presentable piece of work. Students should be able to justify their translation choices. They are also expected to systematically check spelling and grammatical rules if in doubt. |
