Course contents :  This course is a one week seminar based on a challenge called "HEC MANAGEMENT TROPHY" including a residential part.

STEP 1- THINKING( 15 hours) E-learning about the basic concepts in the following areas :

  • Accounting and finance
  • Operations management
  • Marketing
  • Human ressources management
  • and other related topics
STEP 2 - "BEING" Conferences and debates linked to a specific topic in the following fields: philosophy, ethics, citizenship.. Launching of the challenge, red thread of the week.

STEP 3 - "DOING" Case study in teams (CEO position) and coaching from the academic team.

STEP 4 - "INTEGRATING" Corporate strategy residential seminar (2 days) including the first play off of the challenge. Key moments in the corporate life, corporate vision and objectives, planning and implementation, corporate governance. These themes could be illustrated by case studies.

ETAPE 5 - "FINAL JURY" - Choice of the 4 nominated teams.
Course objective :  
  • This course will enable students to integrate in a hollistic view the various management functions, to synthetise them and bare in mind the essential ones in each discipline
  • to broaden the knowledge to the strategic vision of management
  • withing the challenge, to make strategic decisions in teams (time and conflict management, negotiation abilities) stressing the interdependence of the company's activities
  • give a "last and unforgetable" touch to the training
Prerequisites :  None
Workshops :  This seminar is based on a team assignment (5 students) based on providing solutions to a management problem (case study).
Organization :  This seminar requires intensive participants' involvment wether as individuals or in groups.
Written notes :  The "Thinking" part (update of the basics in management) is available both in a syllabus as online. The case study is available on the website.
Assessment :  Evaluation 1st session :

  • individual based on the presenteism and participation in the HEC MANAGEMENT TROPHY activities (30% of the final grade)
  • individual in a MCQ on the basics of the «thinking» step (30% of the final grade)
  • group evaluation within the team assignment resolution of the company problem in the case study (40% of the final grade).
