Learning unit contents

Students enrolled in the specialization master's degree in environmental science and management in developing countries must prepare a dissertation. This is a scientific research work in relation to environmental sciences and management, carried out under the supervision of a promoter, and which will be the subject of a written report and an oral defense.
The subject of the thesis work can be developed by the student in consultation with a promoter and / or chosen from among the proposals communicated by the promoters to the students. In agreement with the promoter, it can be associated with an internship in a host organization, the internship will then constitute the "field" of the thesis.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The thesis is a personal work which represents the crowning of the student's career, it allows him to develop his initiative and particular interests. It tests the student's ability to plan, undertake and report on original research work, by mobilizing the knowledge and skills acquired through the various teachings of the master's degree in environmental science and management. It helps to develop and demonstrate skills in research methods and / or project implementation - for example the realization of a state of knowledge, the collection and analysis of data - and offers the opportunity of a high quality self-employment. It aims to develop the critical thinking and the scientific spirit of the student.
