Learning unit contents

Game theory is the best example of mathematics drifting on social dilemmas. The course addresses the mathematical and physical theories of decision support, the laws of game theory are axiomatically constructed, the prisoner's dilemma is analyzed in detail with its social applications, and, finally, one of the problems is developed. major of mathematics and physics today, chance.
Taking into account current events, the course starts with mathematical models of epidemics and the basic principles of statistical tests.
The course is seen as the continuation of the concepts and methods of reasoning studied during the basis of the BA1 mathematics course.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

General objectives: to understand and manipulate mathematical and physical concepts in order to better understand the world around us, to develop a critical and scientific mind. Specific objectives: understand epidemic dynamics, medical tests, understand the laws of game theory, the concepts of reasoning, application to particular cases, studies of relative paradoxes and the prisoner's dilemma, development of the concept of chance.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

(1) BA1 course: The laws of logic and chance
(2) Upper secondary level mathematics and physics skills, strong mathematics and physics option (BAC S in France).
