Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
The biosecurity is the execution of the measures that reduce the risk of introduction (bioexclusion) and diffusion of pathogens (bioconfinement) outside facilities/health units, that prevent the human contamination (bio-prevention) and reduce the risk of survival of the pathogen in the environment (bio-contamination).
It demands the adoption of a set of attitudes and behaviours by people in a way to reduce the risk in veterinary public health in different sectors of activities.
After a detailled introduction on biosecurity in general, each student perform a mini project of implementation of the biosecurity in the context of its country of origin and its sector of activities.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
After the training, the student will be able to:
* Know the issues of the biosecurity
* Know the importance of biosecurity in the daily practice.
* Know and be able to implement in local contexts and with responsability biosecurity practices
* Know, understand and be able to implement key measures to be taken to minimize the risk of introduction and spread of pathogens
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Basic knowledge in life sciences.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
* Interactive courses in audience, largely illustrated by a computer-assisted presentation (4h Theoritical course) * Personal work done by the student on a topic of their choice directly related to teh biosecurity in order to develop and implement a free mini project on biosecurity in the context of his country and a specific sector of activities (20h tutorial work) * Teachers are available to students to answer questions at the end of theoritical course and during tutorials.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
- Face to face
Recommended or required readings
* Notes available on eCampus * Faculty biosecurity Internet Site (http://www.fmv-biosecurite.ulg.ac.be/)
Any session :
- In-person
oral exam
- Remote
oral exam
- If evaluation in "hybrid"
preferred remote
Additional information:
* Each student is evaluated based on the presentation and defense of its mini-project implementing biosecurity in the context of his country and its sector of activities.
