Learning unit contents

Description of the teaching unit:
The course examines the main energy flows with the objective of quantifying and identifying the environmental impacts all along the flows, from the resource extraxtion to the management of the wastes. Environmental impacts include the analysis of the interaction between the energy processes and the climate
Table of contents:
The course includes two parts:
- Climate: caracterisation; physical processes; interaction between energy flows and climate; measurement of the climate; prospective and climate change
- Energy: Introduction and definitions; caracterisation of energy flows; measurement of energy flows; energy management: evaluation tools of enerfy systems; prospectives about energy flows

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, the student will have a knowledge of the main energy flows and their environmental impacts. He will have a knowledge of the metrological aspects of the thermal energy flows and the meteorological variables. He will be able to understand and interpret a multicriteria analysis as well as a life-cycle analysis applied to energy processes

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Theoretical course in alternance with concept application sessions. Two sessions are devoted to the use or exploitation of data provided by measurement sensors.

The course is given face-to-face.

In-person: Oral exam with closed notes on a rather open question: 30 minutes of answer preparation and 30 minutes of presentation with discussion on other parts of the course

Remote: Oral exam with open course notes; 30 minutes without preparation time
