Admission to the Partim II placement, known as the 'long placement', is conditional upon successful completion of the Partim I placement -
Professional Training Workshops (AFP)
Organised into disciplinary or interdisciplinary groups, the AFPs aim to develop students' reflective practice before, during or after a placement.
One AFP session will be devoted to self-reflection. Students will therefore be required to produce a video during their placement and to obtain the necessary authorisations to do so. A document containing detailed information will be provided to students via eCampus.
Attendance at the AFPs is compulsory. Except in cases of force majeure, as assessed by the course coordinators, two absences (whether excused or not) will result in a mark of 'absent' for the AFPs.
Teaching placements are crucial stages in the gradual acquisition of the teaching skills required of a teacher. Students must be fully committed to preparing lessons and carrying out the teaching duties entrusted to them. The trainee must undertake in writing to respect the institution, the placement supervisor and the pupils they are teaching, both in ethical and pedagogical terms.
The teaching placements will provide students with an opportunity not only to experience different types of teaching, different teaching styles and different groups of pupils, but also to participate in the life of the school as an institution (parents' evenings, class councils, cross-curricular activities, steering committee meetings, etc.).
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Admission to the long-term teaching placement (Part II) is conditional upon successful completion of the Part I teaching placement
The main objective of the Partim II teaching placement is to place the trainee teacher in a teaching situation that most closely resembles their future professional practice. These teaching situations enable trainee teachers to draw upon the teaching skills they have developed during their initial training, as well as their understanding of the overall functioning of a school.
By the end of the placements, students will be able to draw up a placement plan, prepare a complete lesson, teach in front of a class, reflect on their practice and review it with a view to improving it, work as part of a teaching team, and communicate with all those involved in the school (pupils, colleagues, parents, school management, etc.).
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Pending ministerial decisions (AGCF) regarding the organisation of the so-called 'long' placement, the content and structure of this placement are provided for information purposes only; the final versions will be published later on the eCampus platform once they have been finalised.
To be granted access to the placements, students must have signed the placement agreement, attended teaching methodology sessions and AFPs regularly, passed the Partim I placement and completed the AFPs.
Students must comply with the placement rules provided by the Special Teaching Methods in Biology department, which are available on eCampus
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Pending ministerial decisions (AGCF) regarding the organisation of the so-called 'long' placement, the content and structure of this placement are provided here for information purposes only; the final versions will be published later on the eCampus platform, once they have been finalised.
Activities will be organised to help students develop teaching sequences for their second-stage placements during the AFP sessions.
Students will be able to draw on the didactic, pedagogical and sociological concepts and principles covered in the various modules of this programme to prepare for and enrich their placement experience.
Visits by members of the supervisory team during placements in schools will provide an opportunity to review the trainee's progress and identify areas where further work is required.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Face-to-face course

Placements for this programme take place in the second quadrimester and last for 3 to 4 months.
Students must propose one or more placement supervisors to the Department of Special Education in Biology.
The supervisor must hold a teaching qualification and have at least 5 years' teaching experience.
Students may have several supervisors (total = 40 teaching periods).
Students must submit the precise timetable for their placement at least one week before the start of the period using the online form (dedicated platform). Any teaching periods undertaken but not reported within this one-week deadline will not be counted.
Students working in a school may undertake their Part II placement at their school, but they may only count 10 out of 40 teaching periods in their own class, subject to the agreement of the teaching specialists. Each student will be assessed during their placement by a visit from specialist subject tutors and pedagogues.
The placement portfolio must be completed in accordance with the guidelines available for download on eCampus. It must accompany the student throughout their placements and be presented in full to the subject tutors/pedagogues during their visits.

The placement supervision carried out by the General Didactics team may take one of two forms: an in-person classroom visit or an analysis of the lesson based on a video recorded by the student. At the end of the placement, students must submit a self-assessment report. A document containing detailed information will be provided to students on eCampus.
During the placements (Part II), students will be assessed by members of the Specialised Biology Teaching team and by an educational consultant for certification purposes. The aim of these visits is to assess the working context, identify challenges and strengths, and evaluate progress in the teaching profession (development of professional identity). After each lesson observed, students will have the opportunity, subject to everyone's availability, to discuss any difficulties or questions with each of the teaching specialists or educational consultants, in the presence of the placement supervisor and/or the mentor.
The placement will be assessed using criteria provided to students (minimum placement requirements), which can be downloaded from eCampus.
A written report will be provided following the assessment by the teaching specialist/pedagogue, setting out the feedback received and areas for improvement.
A complete work placement portfolio will be required during the visit by the teaching specialist/educator.
This portfolio must comply with the guidelines provided and available for download on eCampus, and must be submitted by the deadlines set at the start of the year.
The Part II placement mark will be calculated on the basis of the assessments made by the specialist teaching practitioner and the tutor, taking into account the views of the Part II placement supervisors, known as the 'long' placement.
There will be no second session for the placements. An overall placement mark of less than 10/20 may result in deferral.
If the placement portfolio is incomplete at the time of the visit, this will result in a mark of 'Fail'.
An incorrectly provided timetable (incorrect or incomplete address; incorrect timetable) making it impossible to carry out the placement visit may result in the deduction of 5 placement periods from the total of 40.
For S5 students: an integration assignment following these placements will be required; the instructions are available on eCampus. Failure to submit the assignment or a failure to pass may result in the placement mark being cancelled
