Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
Advanced kinesitherapy, and pathology of the thorax/lung system.
The content of the learning is in the slidekit and includes the comments during the course.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Building on the integrated approach to understanding the functioning of the respiratory system (see RESP0521), students will be able to mobilize their knowledge and skills in respiratory physiotherapy to analyse clinical situations and provide appropriate care in the main pathological contexts.
By the end of the teaching unit, students will be able to:
- Collect, analyse and interpret relevant clinical information related to the patient's respiratory condition.
- Perform and adjust the functional assessment in order to identify relevant impairments, activity limitations and participation restrictions.
- Establish a reasoned physiotherapy diagnosis, based on the findings of the assessment and clinical reasoning.
- Develop a treatment plan based on the diagnosis, by defining relevant objectives adapted to the clinical context.
- Implement interventions in line with the defined objectives, using general and specific respiratory physiotherapy techniques adapted to the main pathological contexts.
- Reassess and adjust the intervention according to the patient's clinical evolution and response to treatment.
- Use shared professional terminology and communicate clearly and appropriately with the different professionals involved in patient care.
- Adopt an evidence-based practice (EBP) approach and integrate up-to-date and relevant knowledge into clinical reasoning.
- Build a professional project consistent with their clinical competencies, progressively developing autonomy in the management of patients requiring respiratory physiotherapy.
- Engage in continuous reflective practice, including through the analysis of their own practice, identification of learning needs, and adjustment of their interventions.
The practical sessions are organised into 3 series. Attendance is mandatory for each of the four practical sessions.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Bac 1 and Bac 2 (Q1) courses, in particular physiology and general biochemistry.
The content of the course (slidekit and comments) must be learned and the student will be evaluated through a multiple choice questionnaire or open questions.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Based on recording lung volumes and on adaptations of the respiratory system to some physiological and physiopathological situations.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Face-to-face course
Additional information:
