Learning unit contents

The course is divided into three parts:

I) Foundations and methods: history, definitions, stability of personality, aims of personality psychology, methods, personality assessment.

II) Personality determinants: biological determinants, genetic determinants, environmental determinants, gene identification, generational effects.

III) Personality theories: the dispositional perspective (Allport, Cattell, Eysenck and the Big Five), the psychobiological perspective (Gray, Tellegen, Zuckerman and Cloninger).

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course, the student wiil be able to know the major personality theories and methodological problems, as well as the nature/nurture debate.
