Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

Each laboratory session is based on the practical application of the learning outcomes allocated to each modular approach of the basic cursus.

The Q3 cycle concerns cardio-vascular and respiratory modules.

The Q4 cycle concerns abdomino-pelvic, and cervical/oral anatomy.

The Q5 cycle concern the loco-motor module.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Please consult the listing of anatomical learning outcomes on line or in the vademecum, especially for their practical aspect.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

The knowledge of the theorical anatomical data related to the concerned module is required before entering the lab.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Each practical session (CV-Respiratory / Digestive-Genitourinary-Endocrine / Locomotor) comprises a total of 4 hours of work, including 2 hours of in-person teaching in the dissection room. All sessions are led by teaching assistants and student demonstrators, under the supervision of the academic staff.

The programme consists of the following:

1) Remote computer-based work

This includes:

  • independent work on eCampus;
  • a preparatory session on Microsoft Teams with a student demonstrator, including reviews, quizzes, analysis of anatomical and radiological images, videos and museum specimens, and an introduction to the dissection.
Attendance at the preparatory Teams sessions is mandatory.

The independent work on eCampus must be completed before the 2-hour dissection session.

2) Dissection sessions

Dissection sessions take place in the Anatomy Laboratory: CHU B23, Level -1, Tower 3, Institute of Anatomy.

Attendance in the dissection room is mandatory.

Before being granted access to the dissection room, students must complete and sign the Anatomy Laboratory access regulations online.

Students must bring their apron from Block 1. During sessions in the dissection room, a water-repellent protective apron provided by the Anatomy Laboratory must be worn over it for the entire duration of the session.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Continuous assessment

Further information:

Assessment is based on continuous assessment (10% of the final grade) and an end-of-semester examination (90%). Only the end-of-semester examination may be retaken during the second examination session. Where applicable, the grade obtained for continuous assessment is carried over unchanged and included in the calculation of the final grade for the second session, precisely because of the continuous nature of this assessment.

Continuous assessment:
This consists of multiple-choice quizzes (MCQs) administered at random during dissection sessions.

End-of-semester examination:

The summative assessment of the anatomy practical sessions takes place outside the official January examination period, according to a schedule communicated to students.

Computer-based examination focusing on the identification of anatomical structures. Online practice tests are available.

  • In-person assessment: written examination (MCQs, short-answer questions, etc.)

  • Remote assessment: written examination (MCQs, short-answer questions, etc.)

  • If a hybrid assessment format is used: preference for remote assessment.
