Advanced physiotherapy

Two-hour practical sessions focusing on the rehabilitation of the main musculoskeletal conditions affecting the upper and lower limbs.

Palpatory anatomy of the upper and lower limbs

This course concerns the reeducative techniques related to Palpatory Anatomy of the musculoskeletal system (superior and inferior members).

Anatomy practical work is part of the modular training of the anatomy of the musculoskeletal system.

Advanced physiotherapy

By the end of this learning unit, the student will be able to:

• Understand the objectives and requirements of a physiotherapy assessment.
• Collect the essential administrative information about the patient during the history-taking process.
• Take the patient's general information into account during the history-taking process.
• Accurately identify and structure the patient's medical history during the history-taking process.
• Explore the injury mechanism or circumstances surrounding the onset of the condition.
• Identify the patient's most relevant injury risk factors.
• Determine and summarise the main medical information relating to the patient's health status.
• Review the patient's history of previous injuries.
• Conceptualise, structure and conduct a comprehensive physiotherapy assessment tailored to the patient and their condition.
• Be able to perform and demonstrate proficiently all the strengthening exercises for the different muscle groups of the upper and lower limbs covered during the course.
• Distinguish between and practically perform isometric, concentric and eccentric contractions in the different exercises.
• Analyse the parameters of each exercise (unilateral or bilateral, degree of muscle lengthening, intensity, movement velocity, joint dominance, etc.).
• Understand, apply and integrate the principles of balance training, postural/neuromuscular control, mobility enhancement and return-to-sport rehabilitation within the rehabilitation of a patient with a musculoskeletal condition, including their assessment.
• Integrate all the above-mentioned concepts into a clinical vignette involving physiotherapy interventions for patients with various musculoskeletal conditions.

The learning objectives correspond to a visualization in the dissection laboratory of the main anatomical structures with a view to better integration of the learning objectives of the anatomy module of the musculoskeletal system.

Advanced physiotherapy

Courses in Years 1 and 2 of the Bachelor's degree in Kinesitherapy and Rehabilitation (BKR) relating to the musculoskeletal system.

...<br /><br /> The knowledge of the theorical anatomical data related to the concerned module is required before entering the lab.

Presence is required.<br /><br /> Mode of delivery depending on color codes COVID-19<br /><br /> Each practical work takes place over a period of 1 hour 30 minutes and includes phases of dissection and observation on the human body. Before the first session, the student must carry out remote work on the computer (introduction to dissection). Remote work on e-campus must be carried out before the first session.
Access to the dissection room requires acceptation of the the "règlement" by an on line signature. Wearing specific anatomical overall is mandatory

This course represents 25% of the grade of the integrated activity (the remaining 75% coming from the "Practical In-depth physiotherapy" course of this teaching activity).

A mark below 10/20 obtained in either of these two course components will result in a failure for that component. The assessment for this component must be retaken in a subsequent examination session.
