Learning unit contents
Physiotherapy
Locomotor rehabilitation This course describes the techniques of articular mobilization useful for the practice of physiotherapy.
Mechanotherapy
Mechanotherapy
The structure of the course corresponds to the study of:
- Mecano-therapy systems: levers - pulleys
- Specific mountings geared for posture - traction - mobility
- Guidelines and contra-indications of these systems
- Loco-regional applications
- Modern concepts: arthromotors, isokinetic dynamometers
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Physiotherapy
To provoke a reflection on the mechanisms and safety of athletic movements.
to raise up a rationale on the effectiveness and safety of the mobilizations in professional practice.
Mechanotherapy
Allowing an understanding of therapeutic guidelines and the limits of mechano-therapy in order to integrate it in other re-educative techniques.
To ensure patient safety, the student must be able to:
* Identify potential technical risks associated with the use of mechanotherapy equipment (pulley systems, traction tables, ergometers, suspension systems).
* Systematically check the operating condition, fastenings, and load limits of the equipment before use.
* Adjust equipment settings (lever arms, axes of rotation, resistance levels) to perfectly suit the patient's body type and condition, thereby avoiding harmful joint stress.
* Screen for absolute and relative contraindications (local or systemic) regarding the application of a specific mechanotherapy technique.
* Analyze the patient's clinical record to tailor the intensity, speed, and range of motion of the mechanical exercises.
* Immediately stop the session if clinical warning signs appear (abnormal pain, harmful compensatory movements, cardiovascular or autonomic signs) and reassess the situation.
* Position the patient stably and comfortably, ensuring adherence to safety protocols (securing straps, positioning of free body segments, accessibility of the emergency stop button).
* Explain safety instructions, the exercise procedure, and the appropriate course of action in the event of pain or discomfort to the patient.
* Actively supervise the execution of the movement to correct compensatory actions in real time and prevent repetitive micro-trauma.
