- Distinguishing the five parts of the nursing profession

- To approach critically the epistemology of nursing sciences
- Identifying what a nursing concept is
- Defining nursing theory
- Distinguish between types of theories according to their level of abstraction
- To identify the usefulness of nursing theories in clinical practice and research
- To identify the link between nursing science and nursing philosophy
- To identify the usefulness of nursing science and nursing philosophy for advanced practice
- Demonstrate an understanding of philosophical texts concerning the ontology, epistemology and ethics of nursing.

Reverse class: the course is organized in the form of seminars
- Students prepare the course on the basis of a preparation document containing readings as well as questions to be answered or preparation to be carried out
- Everyone is invited to participate actively in the discussions
