Learning unit contents
The approach (definition and objectives) - institutions and legal framework - the site and its environment - preparatory studies - prospecting - topography and stratigraphy - excavation (methods and site organisation) - recording and survey methods (sections, plans, elevations, image processing, casts) - artefacts and samples - post-excavation and specialised studies - site preservation - publications.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
This course presents all components of fieldwork, including research structure and practice in the field. Themes developed follow the logical progress of mounting an archaeological expedition and is complemented by development of the theoretical aspects relevant for each step.

Following the 20-day fieldwork, a written report must be submitted. The report must be uploaded to eCampus by the first day of the examination session at the latest. The guidelines and rules for writing the report are available on the platform.
An oral examination will be held during the examination session.
