This course is an introduction in participative management. His goal is to give an outline of the various levels of participation and a critical analysis of this practice.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit
This course begins with a theoretical introduction to participatory management. It then draws on presentations by natural environment managers, films and articles presenting conflicting viewpoints, and field visits to provide an overview of management approaches centred on the participatory approach.
After completing the course the student is expected to propose methods that reconcile social, ecological and economic aspect for a participatory sustainable management of tropical and temperate ecosystems.He will be also capable to developp critical mind about participation and to give the level of participation in study cases.

General course from bach : Biosphère, agriculture, society; Sociology; Forest and forest ecosystems; Equipe, organisation et changement; General ecology.
