Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

This course provides an introduction to the fundamental principles of physics required to understand and analyse environmental phenomena. Particular emphasis is placed on energy and mass exchanges between natural and built systems and their description using basic physical principles. The concepts are introduced through environmental examples, enabling students from diverse educational backgrounds to develop the foundations required for the quantitative analysis of problems related to environment.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • identify the main physical processes involved in environmental problems;
  • apply the principles of environmental situations;
  • perform basic quantitative calculations using appropriate physical quantities and units.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

None

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course will include theoretical lectures and practical exercises. Students will work in groups. The number of students per group will be determined later.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)

Face-to-face course

Further information:

The course is delivered exclusively in person, with alternating sessions in French and English.
