Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

The course will provide a detailed overview of the main techniques used for the isolation and/or purification of biomolecules and microbial biomass. More specifically, the principles and applications of centrifugation, filtration, and protein chromatography will be reviewed, along with their implementation at the pilot and industrial scales.

The course will also include exercise sessions and practical laboratory work.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Acquire a thorough understanding of the main downstream processing unit operations used in biotechnological processes for the recovery, separation, and purification of bacterial biomass and biological macromolecules produced in bioreactors.
