Schedule
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
This course unit is primarily based on laboratory experiments. Using model systems (microorganisms, plant cells, and animal cells), students will explore a range of molecular, biophysical, and bioinformatic analysis techniques to clone a gene from a biological sample and characterize the corresponding protein (function, localization, and interaction with the cell membrane). The project will employ molecular biology techniques, imaging, bioinformatic analysis, and biophysical methods (fluorescence spectroscopy, isothermal titration calorimetry).
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
This course covers the full range of molecular approaches currently employed by bioengineers for the study and cellular characterization of prokaryotes and eukaryotes, with a view to their utilization and valorization. These approaches encompass molecular, biochemical, biophysical, and bioinformatic aspects. Upon completion of this multidisciplinary module, students will be able to understand, master, implement, and design molecular strategies to address complex biological problems in the fields of agronomy and bioengineering. Furthermore, students will be capable of optimizing existing processes in applied chemistry, biophysics, and biology to meet specific requirements.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
CHIM0715-1 Applied Genoproteomics
