Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The scope of the lectures is to introduce the theoretical and practical bases of the molecular gentic and biology, and to illustrate their application to evolution and conservation biology questions. The course will be to help students for the comprehension of other lectures of the master in ecology and biology of the organism and for the master in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Introduction to genetic ("bachelier" in biological sciences).
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The pratical courses consist in problem-based learning activities concerning genetics, genetic engineering and molecular biology.
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Face-to-face course

written exam ( multiple-choice questionnaire, open-ended questions )
Additional information:
Assessment consists of a written examination, accounting for 75% of the final grade, and a practical class (TP) test, accounting for 25% of the final grade.
The written examination consists of a multiple-choice question (MCQ) section and an open-ended question section. If the grade obtained for either of these two sections is below 6/20, the grade for the written examination is capped at 6/20.
The final grade is calculated on the basis of the written examination grade (75%) and the practical class test grade (25%).
During the first examination session, the material covered in the practical classes is not assessed as part of the written examination. If the grade obtained for the practical class test is equal to or higher than 10/20, this grade is retained and carried over to the second examination session. If the grade obtained is below 10/20, the material covered in the practical classes is included in the examination of the second session and is assessed separately, accounting for 25% of the final grade.
This partial exemption is valid only between the first and second examination sessions of the same academic year. It is not carried over to the following academic year if the student re-enrols in the course.
