Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

Whatever the field, descriptive statistics is an essential step not only in the analysis of databases, but also in understanding, interpreting and communicating the results obtained from them, whether or not these results come from the scientific literature. This micro-credit will therefore introduce the definitions and concepts necessary to provide participants with the theoretical knowledge related to descriptive statistics.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

This micro-credit will introduce the definitions of population, sample, variable and data types. These definitions will form the basis for the introduction of position and dispersion parameters. The course will also cover the notion of association between two variables and the various associated graphical representations.

In terms of knowledge, this micro-certification will enable participants to understand and distinguish between the concepts of population and sample, to differentiate between the different types of variable, to know the appropriate numerical and graphical methods according to the type of variable, to know the measures of association between two variables and their graphical representation.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

None

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Ex-cathedra course using interactive tools (Wooclap) and illustrations from the scientific literature.
