Remedial English Course - 1st Year Sociology

Course codes: LREM0012 (Q1) - LREM0013 (Q2)

This remedial course is designed to support first-year Sociology students who encounter difficulties in English. Its objectives are to:

  • Reinforce the grammatical and lexical foundations necessary for success in the English course,

  • Develop reading and listening comprehension skills,

  • Improve writing skills through simple, targeted exercises,

  • Familiarize students with vocabulary and texts related to sociology.

This is a support course: no graded assignments or formal assessments are planned. However, active and regular participation is encouraged to gain the maximum benefit.

Reference manual: Murphy's Grammar Book, 5th edition (essential for grammar work).

eCampus: Reading folder containing a selection of texts covering various sociological topics, accompanied by exercises in listening comprehension, reading comprehension, and writing practice (training in expressing opinions, writing definitions, and producing short summaries).
