Learning unit contents

The teaching activity is composed of two parts:

1) Theoretical lectures in an amphitheater (2 lectures, 2 hours each)

2) Practical sessions in a strength and conditioning room OR laboratory room OR multipurpose sports hall (8 sessions, 2 hours each).

 

 

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The objective of this course is to understand the central role of exercise in the main rehabilitation approaches for musculoskeletal disorders.

At the end of this teaching unit, the student will be able to:

  • Know and identify the qualities of an effective rehabilitation exercise

  • Master the concepts of load and capacity as applied to a patient

  • Assimilate the main parameters of an effective rehabilitation exercise: intensity, volume, progression, specificity, variety, pain management, movement quality, and communication with the patient, among others.

This course is intended as a prerequisite for the LOCO C theoretical and practical teaching activities (Year 3 - B3), and more generally for clinical placements starting in Year 3.

Biomechanics course - Year 1 (B1) and Year 2 (B2)

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Theoretical courses: ex cathedra lectures.

Practical courses: emphasis will be placed on performing movements and multiple exercises during the sessions.

Organisational remarks and main changes to the course

For practical sessions: sportswear is mandatory. In the absence of appropriate sportswear, the instructor reserves the right to deny the student access to the session.

A minimum participation of 80% in the practical sessions is required in order to be admitted to the exam.

Any absence from a practical session must be justified with a medical certificate.

No group changes will be permitted.
