Learning outcomes of the learning unit
To teach the principles governing open channel flow
After following this course, students should be able to
- Compute head losses in pressurised pipe flow;
- Optimize an ensemble of pressurised pipe flows;
- Compute the volume flow rate delivered by a channel as a function of its water depth.
- Identify and design modifications necessary to improve the fluid transport capacity of a channel.
- Calculate the evolution of water depth over the whole length of a channel.

The exam is oral; time is allowed for preparation (in writing). Several cards containing three questions will be presented blindly, one card will be drawn, and approximately 30 minutes will be allowed for preparation, followed by an oral examination.

- This is a hybrid course, which means that your English skills should be trained during the course. All course material (slides, reference books, exercices) will be in English. Please interact as much as possible during the course, so that you can train your active, oral skills for the exam.
