Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

The course consists of a study trip lasting several days - in Belgium or abroad - to visit museums and exhibitions and meet museum professionals. The aim of this course is to enrich students' museum culture by confronting them with new instututional logics.

The trip takes place during the 1st week of April vacation (20/25 April 2026).

NB: by way of example, the museography course in 2022-2023 took place in Lyon (France) and in 2023-2024 in Avignon, Arle and Marseille.

In 2025-2026, the trip will take place in Avignon in partnership with Avignon Université, with a project in collaboration with the city's museums. Excursions around Avignon to be defined.

The program is designed to keep additional costs for students as low as possible, i.e. (in addition to subsidies for educational trips) around €200 per student for the entire duration of the trip (6-7 days).

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The aim of the course is to enable students to develop their knowledge of the museum field through visits to museum institutions. Dialogue with professionals in the field should also help them to better identify the various professions and activities within the museum.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Knowledge of the museum world is an important prerequisite.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The course will take the form of visits and discussions over several days. At the same time, a museographic evaluation will be carried out within the museums of the city of Avignon.

Following the visit, the student will be asked to produce a written paper based on a specific issue identified during the visit.

Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
