Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

Different themes relevant to prehistory are discussed on the basis of scientific literature. The course is organised around two important themes in prehistory: transitions and convergent evolution. The focus is primarily on the Palaeolithic period, even though the Mesolithic and Neolithic may be part of some of the discussions.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

On the basis of both themes, the students perform comprehensive research on the basis of scientific literature. The range of methodologies used in prehistoric research today are considered. The students are stimulated to reflect about preconceived ideas with regard to these older periods, and on the means we have to revise them. Students are expected to use this knowledge and develop autonomous writing skills.
