Learning unit contents
Belgium has become a real-world laboratory experiment for democracy. In this context, there is a growing demand for expertise. This inter-university certificate aims to provide participants, associations and institutions with training to guide them in their thinking and the design of innovative democratic projects.
The programme is organised by five partner universities: UCLouvain, UMons, ULB, ULiège and UNamur.
The programme's strengths:
- A unique training programme in Belgium
- A specialised training programme focused on project-based learning
- Expert speakers from different backgrounds and disciplines
The programme aims to meet the needs of the field, the expectations of the population, and the political will for participatory democracy. The training is aimed at a diverse audience (citizens, associations, institutions, movements, etc.) involved in democratic debate in various capacities. The certificate focuses on collective intelligence, both upstream and downstream, through dialogue, experience-sharing, and networking between disciplines, experiences, and projects. The training is specifically aimed at project managers, public officials, elected representatives, public space and land use planning specialists, urban development association members, workers wishing to reflect on their organisation's internal democracy, political advisors (parliamentary assistants, party members and cabinet members), trade unions, mutual societies and citizen groups interested in reflecting on democracy and setting up a participatory system.
