Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

Students will translate authentic and varied texts (in terms of field, style, function or target audience, in particular), written in Spanish, into French.

Designed as preparation for the TFE, the course will also equip students with the methodological tools needed to research scientific sources. By reading and analyzing translation texts, students will enrich their strategies for translating from Spanish into French, and develop their ability to produce, orally or in writing, a metalinguistic reflection on their own practices.

The role and limits of AI will also be addressed occasionally.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

By the end of the teaching unit, students will be able to

identify translation problems specific to the texts they are called upon to translate

seek out the appropriate translational sources to explore the issues raised, in order to 1) apply the most appropriate translation strategies to the text in question, and 2) write translation commentaries based on the sources consulted.
