Learning unit contents
General philosophy: Introduction to the reasoned, critical and efficient integration of digital technologies in education
3 main axes divided into 5 themes: didactics of educational technologies, knowledge mediation in Science of Education and digital literacy.
- Develop a reflective and critical approach to education and training in the digital age
- Question the diversity of dimensions and added value of an instrumented pedagogical device
- Question the digital transition of the school and university form
- Contribute to the techno-pedagogical appropriation and empowerment of (future) teachers
- Practice a variety of professional postures, teaching modalities and learning space arrangements via a diversity of pedagogical scenarios, in presence, online and through visits to other places.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
General objectives
Students will be able to :
- analyze the use of digital technology in teaching and training contexts based on the theoretical concept seen during the course
- master knowledge linked with digital technologies integration in education
- develop their own digital skills
- use digital tools critically and effectively for learning purposes.
Students will be able to :
- develop a critical approach, through a culture of doubt and controversy
- understand the concept of pedagogical innovation
- identify the added (and lost) values of digital technologies in education
- use a diverse range of empowering digital tools in an active pedagogical context, based on a variety of scenarios
- connect to the FWB's educational digital ecosystem: ADN, Ludovia, FMTTN, other places (non-exhaustive list).
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Know how to use a computer for office work and basic Internet browsing
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is based, on the one hand, in the principle of pedagogical isomorphism, i.e. giving trainees learning experiences on which they will be able to base the design and facilitation of such activities with their (future) learners (e.g. use of various document editing, communication and sharing services, etc.) and, on the other hand, in the critical analysis, based on scientific literature, of tools and teaching-learning situations aimed at integrating digital technology in an educational context.
The methodology implemented in this course consists of :
- Individual and sub-group activities, mainly face-to-face
- Presentations by the teacher, mainly in the classroom
- Information exchange with supervisors via the eCampus platform and various digital WEB tools
- Diversity of pedagogical approaches (variety of scenarios, digital spaces and tools) including potential educational visits with travel (Ludovia, Salle VR...) and professional testimonials
Mode of delivery (face to face, distance learning, hybrid learning)
Blended learning
Further information:
Face-to-face (for the most part) and distance learning for distance training
Course materials and recommended or required readings
Platform(s) used for course materials:
- eCampus
Further information:
On eCampus, you'll find a course entitled "PEDA4032 - Introduction aux usages du numérique en éducation". This is the official course space. You'll find different types of resources throughout the course.
Written work / report
Other : Online training
Further information:
1 - Assignment - report :
Evaluation is based on a integrative work. Students in groups (2 or 3 students) will have to film a learning activity integrating digital technologies, to edit the video and to analyze it in referring to different criteria seeing during the course.
2 - Completion of an independent online training course on PIX
To develop their digital culture, students must individually complete a distance learning course on PIX certification platform.
Validation requests the submission of both parts.

Organisational remarks and main changes to the course
The course is evolving this year (2024-2025). While the main objectives and assessment methods remain fairly similar, the methods, models and content used are evolving to place greater emphasis on acting/teaching in a digital environment. What's more, this new course aims to adapt now to the Master's degree reform scheduled for 2025-2026.
Students who have taken the course in previous years without validating it are advised to contact the teacher's assistants.
