Learning unit contents

This course will address the particularities of neurodevelopmental disorders (intellectual development disorder, autism spectrum disorder, developmental oral language disorder, dyslexia/dysorthographia) in children educated in a bilingual environment.

The differences with monolingual children will be highlighted and the hypothesis of cumulative effects will be deconstructed.

The course will also address assessment strategies adapted to these multilingual contexts and propose specific logopaedic intervention approaches, taking into account family and socio-cultural dynamics, in order to optimise clinical management.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

At the end of the course students will be able to :

- analyse objectively a situation of bilingualism in neurodevelopmental disorders

- carry out a coherent and appropriate assessment

- plan clinical management

- inform and advise parents and teachers appropriately

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Completion of the LOGO5008 course 'Psycholinguistic and logopaedic approach to bilingualism and multilingualism'.
