Learning unit contents
This course contains 5 chapters:
1. Production of X-rays
2. The structure factor
3. X-ray powder diffraction techniques
4. The scanning electron microscope
5. The electron microprobe
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The aim of this course is to introduce the students to two main tools of the Mineralogist: X-ray diffraction techniques and the scanning electron microscope.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
The content of the course "Cristallographie et Minéralogie" must be known.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Practicals: X-ray powder diffraction and EDS spectroscopy.
